Eric Clapton: Old Sock

Eric Clapton does not give a damn about composing new songs. He prefers to remember his youth and replays songs that inspired him the most. However, do not expect any return to the roots.

Eric Clapton: Old Sock
Formate: Audio CD
Released: 2013
Label: Bushbranch / Surfdog

Since 2012 this legendary bluesman has been in his own vicious circle. He has no need to create new riffs but he rather rebuilds the famous ones according to himself. Old Sock pays tribute to J. J. Cale, George Gershwin, Gary Moore, Peter Tosh and others. Being given a musicology gift, Clapton uncovers original gospel roots that set the whole rock´n ´roll machinery on. Actually, it has been him who did always discover unknown songs and made them popular.

This album romantically remembers the 30s, reggae, soul and rock and brings two brand new songs – Every Little Thing and Gotta Get Over.

There are Steve Gadd (drums), Willie Weeks (bass guitar) and Chris Stainton (keyboards) playing in the band but also some famous surprising hosts appear – beginning with Paul McCartney in All Of Me or Steve Winwood in emotional Still Got The Blues. Clapton continues in a pleasant interpretation of songs that influenced all his life. Old Sock album is not just another record to listen to, it is also a reflection of a life experience.
