Alice In Chains: The Devil Put Dinosaurus

What a wonderful reunion these dark grunge angels present! The new album is a real pearl of the stone style – the one these Seattle natives are so good at.

Only a few people believed in these legends after the death of Layne Staley. After a short successful warm-up with a new band member William DuVall on the previous album Black Gives Way To Blue, there is no doubt  that the next record titled The Devil Put Dinosaurus is probably the very best one this trio of Jerry Cantrell/Mike Inez/Sean Kinne recorded since the Dirt era. The core of the record lies in tough riffs sliding slowly to melancholic arranges and harmonic piece under the vocal polyphony by Cantrel/DuVall. Fantastic guitar solos, balladic bass quitar, strong drums as well as bittersweet acoustic are based on the very best of the rock origins. Today, these new Alice In Chains sound even heavier than they ever did. Blues style poetics by David Gilmour, strong hammer-riffs by their friend Metallica and charismatic dark text are back again and they still do have a word to say.
