Pop-Up Bass: dancing music

Daniela Mata – a student of design of Portuguese origin – has developed a completely new way of perceiving music through the movement. Her project is called Pop-Up Bass and the motion is created using little polystyrene beads.

A handful of polystyrene balls of different sizes are placed in a glass jar on a subwoofer and so when the music starts, vibrations literally make these balls dance. As Daniela said: “The aim of this project is to convert music into something observable. Providing not only an auditory effect but also a visual experience.”
